Sonic Sessions Returns! Submissions open until 1/22
It’s time to get back in Session—Sonic Sessions is returning Wednesday, February 5! You’re invited to send in a track that other artists and the Black Techno Matters Music Label team themselves will hear in an intimate setting, followed by thoughtful discussion on your music.
Sessions will continue to be small so we can guarantee full playback and commentary within our timeframe. Whether you’d like to submit a demo for the BTM Music Label, test your mixdown or mastering techniques, or simply flex your creativity and talk about it, we’re excited to hear from you!
Fill in this form to submit your track for the listening and feedback session by Wednesday, January 22. Details on how to submit are here.**
Selected artists will be emailed Friday, January 31.
Overall, the response to Sonic Sessions last year has been amazing, and I’m so excited to introduce new aspects and opportunities for artists to get their music heard and played. We’ve also heard you loud and clear and made sure this event stays open to artists anywhere in the world. Participating artists local to DC are still encouraged to come in person, but if you aren’t local and can’t come in person, you’ll fully be a part of this event via Black Techno Matters’s Discord server.
*We’ll send Discord info to selected artists the day before Sonic Sessions.
Stay tuned for more—we’re ready to hear what you send us! 😊
**Fair warning: you’ve gotta follow the instructions for submitting or we can’t guarantee you’ll be selected, even if your track is absolute fire.**
“Living Moon” Out in the Wild
Thank you everyone for all your support on my EP, Living Moon! I’ve heard some wonderful feedback and compliments from folks, and I’m so glad I took the opportunity to share this release with you all.
First, we had a listening party 2 days before the EP was released on all platforms at Flower District. My closest friends came to hear the track in a closed setting and holy cow, it was awesome. I got to tell the whole story of my music career thus far and everything that inspired Living Moon.
Next, we took Living Moon to Gramophone DC in September and SO many of y’all came through. People danced to the tracks and we spun the record a whole second time at the request of the audience. It was wonderful seeing everyone engage with this music and enjoy the intimate gathering space that Gramophone has to offer. The hugs and drinks were flowing for sure!
Your support means the world. I can’t wait to share more of my music with this amazing community! If you haven’t already, listen to Living Moon on Spotify, Bandcamp, or SoundCloud.
Event: “Living Moon” Launch Party at Gramophone DC
Living Moon will be out everywhere Friday, August 25, so join me to celebrate the EP’s release at the Gramophone on Thursday, September 7!
You’ll catch my tunes as they appear on the EP with more dancing to follow. So, come enjoy the Gramophone’s intimate space and fantastic sound system and kick it with me—can’t wait to see y'all there!
“Living Moon” EP Out 8/25
My EP, Living Moon, will be out Friday, August 25, 2023. I loved writing this collection of tracks—they vary in theme from uplifting and thematic, to trippy and tense, to playful and curious. Stream my EP anywhere (Spotify, Tidal, YouTube, Apple Music, SoundCloud, etc.) on release day, or buy it on Bandcamp two days earlier on the 23rd.
Enjoy Living Moon—I’d love to hear your thoughts on it!
